LGBTQIA+ Affirming Therapy

At The Art of Healing, we provide affirming therapy for LGBTQIA+ children, teens, adults, couples, parents, and families. We believe therapy should be a space where you do not have to explain, defend, or minimize who you are in order to feel respected and understood.

Our therapists offer compassionate, trauma-informed, and identity-affirming care for clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, family dynamics, identity exploration, coming out, gender identity, sexuality, grief, life transitions, parenting, and the impact of discrimination or marginalization.

A Space Where You Can Be Fully Seen

Many LGBTQIA+ clients have had experiences of being misunderstood, dismissed, judged, or reduced to one part of their identity. Some have worked with providers who said they were affirming but did not fully understand the complexity of LGBTQIA+ identity, relationships, family structures, gender expression, or lived experience.

At The Art of Healing, we aim to create a space where clients feel genuinely welcomed, respected, and supported. We approach therapy with cultural humility, curiosity, and care, honoring each person’s story, identities, relationships, family, community, and lived experience.

LGBTQIA+ Couples, Relationships, and Families

We support LGBTQIA+ couples, partners, parents, and families navigating communication, conflict, emotional intimacy, trust, identity, parenting, family transitions, and relationship stress. Our therapists understand that LGBTQIA+ relationships and families may carry unique strengths, pressures, histories, and social realities.

Therapy can help partners and families slow down reactive patterns, strengthen communication, repair disconnection, and create more safety and understanding in their relationships.

Support for LGBTQIA+ Children and Teens

Children and teens deserve supportive spaces where they can explore identity, emotions, relationships, and self-expression without shame. We work with LGBTQIA+ youth navigating anxiety, depression, social stress, school stress, family dynamics, neurodivergence, identity development, bullying, grief, or emotional overwhelm.

When appropriate, we also support parents and caregivers in understanding and affirming their child, strengthening connection, and creating a family environment where young people can feel safer, loved, and supported.

An Intersectional and Whole-Person Approach

LGBTQIA+ identity does not exist in isolation. It intersects with race, culture, disability, neurodivergence, spirituality, family systems, trauma, socioeconomic stress, body image, chronic illness, and community belonging.

Our therapists honor the whole person. We are committed to offering care that is LGBTQIA+ affirming, neurodivergent-affirming, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and grounded in respect for each client’s autonomy, identity, and lived experience.
